Microsoft
- Microsoft works with software providers to meet the needs of customers in heterogeneous environments - this includes providers of open source technologies and products. This might be through business and technical relationships with open source-based businesses and communities like the ones that exist today with MySQL, Novell, SugarCRM, XenSource and Zend.
Since early 2007, Microsoft has reached out to the PHP community and taken an open approach to making Windows a world class platform for PHP. The company has worked with Zend to enhance PHP performance on Windows. At the Microsoft Open Source Technology Centre, programmers continue to develop implementations of PHP-based open source applications on Windows and provide the patches back to the community. Perhaps most notably, product groups within Microsoft such as SQL Server have reached out to the PHP community and written PHP based solutions - overall providing programmers with more choice.
