Call For Papers

The call papers is now closed, we will be contacting successful speakers soon.

The main attraction of any conference is the talks that are given and we aim to attract the best PHP speakers from around the world. We solicit talks through a call for papers so you, the community, can tell us what kinds of things everyone should be hearing about.

Interested in giving a talk?
Submit your talk proposal here now. If you'd like to see a speaker that you know of, please let us know or direct them to this page.

What are you looking for?
We are looking for talks relating to any non-basic aspect of the PHP programming language, be it mainstream, advanced, niche or non-technical. We are looking for real 'wow' talks that are fresh and inspiring about cutting edge topics or new perspectives on common problems. The audience will be from all backgrounds varying in skill level from beginner to intermediate to advanced, so talks varying widely on topic and all skill levels are required. Most of all we want speakers who have a deep knowledge about the topics they are proposing and can't wait to share that knowledge with a whole group of of eager listeners. Tell us what you're most passionate about and why we should be passionate about it as well.

What's in it for me?
Fame and fortune! Well, maybe not just yet, but, speaking at a conference is a great way to give back to the amazing PHP community that has given so much to you. In addition to giving back to the community, we are very pleased to be able to offer the following benefits package to all our speakers:

  • entry to the conference (both days) and all the social events
  • travel expenses paid in full
  • two nights accommodation (before and after the day of your talk) in the London Hilton Islington Hotel - includes breakfast
  • invitation to the complimentary speaker's dinner (Thursday night)
  • thank you gift

What's it like to give a talk?
All talk sessions are one hour long, including time for questions. You'll present on stage or at the front of a room using a laptop, projector and screen, and will be mic'd up so the whole audience can hear you. Water will be provided and you'll have an assigned room manager who will help you start/stop on time, organise volunteers with microphones in the audience for questions, and anything else you'll need.

Any resources needed from me?
All speakers must have a biography on our web site and printed in our conference materials, so we'll need a high resolution headshot of yourself and a snazzy paragraph or two all about you. We'll also need the title and abstract description of your talk to be presented in the same way, and ideally an image or sample slide representing it.

The content delivered at the conference is top notch, and we want to get that information out to as many people as possible. To do that, we will audio and/or video record your presentation and may stream it live. We plan to add our sponsors logos and/or names to the media and distribute it to the delegates and people of the internet. We'll host a page on our site with the media and a link to your slides. Most speakers use a site like SlideShare or their own website to host their slides but we are happy to host them (in PDF format) for you if you prefer.

We'll collect feedback about the talks and the conference through joind.in so your talk will be listed there. It's most useful if you have an account on this site so you can see all the fabulous feedback about your session! We'll also have paper feedback forms distributed to all delegates on the day, as we get the most/best results by offering an offline method for them to let us know their opinions too.

I'm sold! What's next?
Please complete the submission information laid out in a handy form for you. We'll need to know some bits and bobs about yourself and we'll need a title and abstract (up to 500 words) of the talk you'd like to give. We're also interested to know why you think we should choose your talk. You can submit as many talk proposals as you like!
