DBVu

DBVu

DBVu is a centralised database monitoring and performance analytics service (think Google Analytics [tm] but for databases with helpful advice when problems are found) each server monitored will be available through a dashboard with overview graphs that are suitable for management and drill-down information suitable for more technical users. So DBVu is providing remote DBA services.

The customer needs to install an open source simple set of scripts that are securely polled by DBVu, the script then connects back to DBVu via SSL and pulls all the required database data, connects to the database servers, builds an XML file which is sent back to DBVu for analysis. The client requires zero maintenance after install and uses very low resources.

Based on a freemium model, every customer gets 30 days of full service and during that time can elect to pay. If the customer doesn't pay, they'll get reduced polling and no drill-down info, but still getting useful information about what their databases are doing.

DBVu is working with various consultancies (including DBVu itself) so customers who can't fix their own problems will be able to request help, the customer can also elect to make their (read-only) data available to the consultancy who can than see any issues before they go on site or remotely access the servers, so reducing the time required to fix problems.
