Over the years, PHP running on Windows and IIS has increasingly grown. The latest version of PHP for Windows includes dramatic improvements that come from a deep collaboration between the PHP Core Maintainers and Microsoft. Improvements to this latest version of PHP for Windows include: Optimized API calls (using Win32 instead of POSIX), all PHP libraries built from the source code, compiled using our latest VC9 compiler (PHP 5.2 used VC6), and loads of compatibility fixes to improve speed and stability.
