PostDesk.com

PostDesk will become the place to discuss, debate and read independent editorial content online, including opinion pieces, feature articles, reviews and interviews all produced by our strong community - which you can become a part of.

As part of our technology coverage, and as a PHP UK Conference 2012 media partner, we’re going to be covering the debates and discussions that come out of the event in considerable depth. Coverage will include interviews, comment and commentary based around the topics raised at the event, and around the around issues affecting the wider PHP community in the UK.

The Kernel

The Kernel is Europe's new quality online magazine about technology. We publish long-form, high-quality journalism about the way innovation is changing our lives.

The Kernel takes particular interest in developer issues, an area we feel is poorly served by existing publications, which is why we are delighted to support this conference.

We're part of the broader S&S Media network, which includes the mobile blog Mobile360.com, the Java hub JAXenter.com and a number of popular websites and magazines in the German market.

Twitter Developer Nest

Devnest is a developer oriented community meetup organised by @nuxnix and @markabaker. We meet on Tuesdays almost monthly usually at The Guardian's offices in London with beer and pizza kindly sponsored by Amazon Web Services. Our content is best suited to people who are already developing applications for real-time social information networks like Twitter or who intend to start building a social media or Twitter-related application in the future. We don't pay people to speak, or for administration and our open mike 140 second presentations have become part of the social media developer/start-up calendar in London and the south east. Twitter Corp. support us with live video Q&A from their API team.

Quite a few of our community are LAMP-oriented and active participants in PHP events, and we are delighted to be able to participate in this way. PHP UK Conference attendees are very welcome at our next Devnest - Twitter Tuesday on 1st March 2011 at The Guardian in London. Free tickets available at http://devnest.eventbrite.com

Drupal

A simple description of Drupal is that it's a great CMS (Content Management System), social networking and publishing application, forum, and blogging tool - the more complete answer is that Drupal is a framework written in PHP for quickly and reliably building all kinds of powerful web applications.

The UK Drupal community organises events, helps clients find local Drupal developers, enables local Drupal developers keep in touch, discusses UK specific issues, and generally encourages Drupal connections from Land's End to John O'Groats.

DrupalCon Europe takes place in London in August 2011, with around 2,000 delegates expected to attend. More details will be announced in the coming months.

Facebook Developer Garage London

FDGL is a non-profit community group founded in 2007 to promote knowledge sharing and networking within the growing Facebook application development community in London and the UK. It runs around 10 events per year, organised on Facebook itself, attended by entrepreneurs, recruiters, technology journalists and of course developers, each with a schedule of short 5 to 15 minute 'tapas' talks lasting up to 2 hours in total, covering various subjects including the Facebook development, application, marketing and advertising platforms, and the wider world of social media and the Internet.

Facebook staff have been actively involved in helping to organise the events, joining a committee of volunteers. Find and follow FDGL on Facebook, Twitter and on their own website, which includes video recordings of the hundreds of talks and reports of the events that they've hosted so far, job offers and more.

Leeds PHP

Formed in mid-2010, LeedsPHP is a monthly meet up for developers based in the Leeds and surrounding area.

The group is small, but has seen some of our members talk at international conferences.

London Web

If you're a web developer or designer then this meet-up is for you! We have collected some of the best brains in the industry (well, in London) to talk about what we love the most: the web. We have a wide range of people from designers, HTML/CSS gurus, Flash, Flex, .Net, PHP and Ruby developers. There is a lot of talent in London, and everyone's open to sharing something new.

You should find the topics quite varied but relevant to the web. Expect to learn about new tools and techniques that can help you in your everyday or work (or just enlighten you). The meetup is on the 3rd Thursday, every month at 7.30pm. We are currently meeting in the Tottenham Court Road area. Sign up for details and we'll see you there!

We have a free video podcast available on iTunes - subscribe to it to make sure you get each talk as it's released - just search for London Web.

London Web Standards

London Web Standards brings together web professionals who are working for a better web. Our monthly meetups provide them with an opportunity to teach, inspire, learn, network and debate.
Each meetup features a speaker drawn from our membership or the wider standards community. The talks cover a range of topics including HTML5, JavaScript, YQL, accessibility, web fonts, UX and front-end performance.

Come along, drink some beer (or your beverage of choice) and exchange ideas with other web developers, designers and professionals who are as passionate about the web as you are.

PHP London

PHP London is a non-profit group founded in 2004 to promote knowledge sharing and best practice amongst PHP developers and web development and business professionals in London. The main product right now is a regular PHP meetup - basically a monthly PHP PubCon - which is held on the first Thursday of every month. PHP London also runs the PHP UK conferences.

PHP West Midlands

PHP West Midlands (PHPWM) consists of around 200 members from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have free monthly meetings in Birmingham and aim to provide a community resource for anyone interested in furthering their knowledge in PHP.

PHPBenelux

PHPBenelux is the PHP user group covering Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg. We hold monthly meetings in the different areas, visiting different cities for each meeting.

In January each year we organise our annual conference in Antwerp (Belgium) and we're already looking forward to our upcoming 2013 edition. We would like to thank every one who has attended so far, especially the UK delegation, and hope to see you back in 2013.

PHPNW

PHPNW is a community of web developers, web designers and anyone else interested in PHP, from the north west of England.

They meet on the first Tuesday each month in a bar in the centre of Manchester, and attract people from Leeds to Liverpool, Lancaster to Cheshire in regular attendance. They have run four conference events so far with another planned for 2012.
